Hi, it's nice to meet you!

My name is Ariel Harlap and I'm a technology and design, non-profit and social innovation consultant. I spent the first part of my career in the private sector, as a research geologist, a data scientist, a director of hi-tech research & development director, and product designer.

I now support the community and social innovation sectors, drawing on my diverse experiences in order to:

  • share my intuition for technology, and
  • collaborate on "tech for good" projects, and
  • create inspiring and practical learning experiences.

What I am most proud of:

  • Board member of COCo (2015-present), contributing to the strategic development of a non-profit helping marginalized non-profits.
  • Co-organizer and facilitator for ABC3D (2015-2017), a series of free, prototyped 3D-printing workshop guides for public libraries.
  • Gadgetbox co-organizer of Museomix Montreal (2014 & 2015), co-designed and ran a fabrication lab during a museum make-a-thon.
  • Co-organizer of Transformation Zone (2014), co-designed a collaborative game of experimentation and urban transformation.
  • Co-organizer of 100en1jour Montreal (2013 & 2014), co-organized event and workshops inspiring people to experience active citizenship.

I'm particularly motivated to collaborate when the goal is to:

  • facilitate unstructured learning & learning beyond organizations
  • champion social justice
  • nurture active citizenship & democratic public space
  • create accesssible and human-centred technology or practices
  • spark and spread collaborative economies
